Push through letters are acrylic pieces that pass through a routed metal face and stand slightly proud of it. The cabinet behind is lit, so light comes through the acrylic and also around its edge where it meets the metal. The result is a very crisp bright letter against a solid panel — and because the letters sit forward of the face, the sign has depth in daylight too, when nothing is switched on.
What you get
- Acrylic pushed through an aluminium face routed to match it exactly
- Letters stand ten to twenty millimetres proud of the panel
- The cut tolerance is the whole effect — a loose fit shows as a light leak
- Reads as one panel rather than as separate letters, which suits a logo lock-up
Where it works best
Modern frontages, tenant directory panels, and logos with fine detail that individual letters cannot hold.
